Coop Home Goods Original Loft Pillow Review: 30 Nights, Every Sleep Position Tested

🛏️ Hands-On Review

We slept on the Coop Original Loft Pillow for 30 nights and tried it on our back, side and stomach. The notes below come from that hands-on test. See our Editorial Policy & Testing Methodology for how we label and source every review.

Buying a pillow is usually a four-second decision — you give it a quick squeeze in the store, decide if it feels “fine,” and toss it in the cart. That’s exactly why so many people end up with a pillow that doesn’t actually match how they sleep. We bought the Coop Home Goods Original Loft Pillow, slept on it for 30 nights, and tested it the way you’d actually use it: on our back, side, and stomach, across a range of room temperatures.

Quick Take

The Coop Home Goods Original Loft Pillow is a shredded memory foam pillow blended with microfiber, with fully adjustable loft that ranges from low to high. At $72, it’s built for nearly every type of sleeper, with a particular edge for side and back sleepers. We scored it 9.2/10 — it earned top marks for customizable neck support, and its Lulltra™ bamboo-blend cover was the softest we tested.

What’s Inside

Fill: A blend of CertiPUR-US certified shredded memory foam and ultra-fine polyester microfiber, giving the pillow a fill that holds its shape while still feeling plush.

Cover: The proprietary Lulltra™ cover (30% bamboo-derived rayon, 70% polyester) is highly breathable, wicks moisture well, and is fully removable for machine washing.

Loft: Up to about 5.5 inches (14 cm). A double-zipper design lets you add or remove fill to dial in your ideal height.

Certifications: CertiPUR-US® (free of heavy metals and harmful chemicals) and GREENGUARD Gold (certified for extremely low chemical emissions, meeting California’s strict indoor air quality standards).

Performance

Support & Alignment: The pillow does an excellent job keeping the neck and spine aligned for side and back sleeping. Thanks to the shredded foam structure, weight is distributed evenly instead of collapsing flat overnight the way a down pillow often does. Stomach sleepers can simply remove about a third of the fill to lower the loft and avoid neck strain.

Temperature: Unlike solid memory foam, which tends to trap heat, the shredded fill lets air circulate freely. Combined with the breathable bamboo-blend cover, the pillow stayed comfortable through warm nights, even during a California summer. It doesn’t have the instant “cooling” sensation of a gel-topped pillow, but it never felt like it was trapping heat either.

Adjustability: This is the standout feature. Coop includes an extra bag of fill in the box, and adding or removing it through the zipper system is simple. The process can get a little messy — expect a few foam bits to escape — but the payoff is worth it once you land on your perfect loft.

Durability Over 30 Nights: After a month of nightly use, we saw no clumping or permanent flattening. When the pillow started to lose a bit of loft after a couple of weeks, a quick 10–15 minute run in the dryer on low heat brought it right back to like-new fluffiness.

Who It’s Best For

Who Should Skip It

If you love the total sink-in, hug-you feeling of a 100% down pillow, or you just don’t want to spend a few days fiddling with the fill level to get it right, this might not be for you.

Care & Trial

Care: The removable cover is machine washable in cold water. The fill itself can occasionally go in the dryer on low heat to refresh and re-fluff it.

Policy: Comes with a 100-night home trial (free returns if you’re not satisfied) and a 5-year warranty.
