Black Friday Mattress Deals 2026: A California Buyer’s Guide

Disclosure: Some links on Bedroom Serenity Lab are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partnerships never change our verdicts. Every review is labeled hands-on (we slept on it) or researched (based on specs, published data, and owner feedback). Details are on our advertising disclosure and how we test pages.

Black Friday is a good time to buy a mattress, but it is also a good time to overpay for the wrong bed. This page is our short, honest guide for California sleepers: what to check before you buy, how to spot a fake discount, and which mattresses we have already reviewed. We will add real prices as brands post them, starting around November 20.

Mattresses we have reviewed

We only list a mattress here once it has its own review on the site, and we tell you how we know what we know.

Current prices and deals: we will post verified prices here from around November 20. Until then, please check each brand’s own site, because prices change often.

A 5-point checklist before you buy

  1. Match the feel to how you sleep. Side sleepers usually do better with a medium to medium-soft feel. Back and stomach sleepers often prefer medium-firm to firm. Our sleeper-type guide walks through it.
  2. Check the trial and return terms. A long home trial matters more than the headline discount. Look at how returns work and whether there are fees.
  3. Read the warranty. Look at what counts as a defect, such as sagging depth, and whether you need a specific base.
  4. Add up the total cost. Include shipping, a base or frame, and any accessories you need.
  5. Think about your climate. If you sleep hot, material and construction matter as much as the sale price.

How to spot a fake deal

  • “Up to 60% off” with no model named. The biggest discount usually applies to one specific item, not the mattress you want.
  • A “was” price nobody ever paid. If a mattress seems to be “on sale” every week of the year, the sale price is the real price.
  • Countdown timers that reset. Real deadlines do not reset when you refresh the page.
  • Bundles that hide the real price. Free pillows and sheets are nice, but compare the mattress price on its own.
  • No price history. If you can, check what the same model cost in October and in the weeks before.

A California-specific buying guide

Southern California and the Inland Empire

Hot nights are common. Many people find hybrids and latex sleep cooler than dense memory foam. A breathable topper and light cotton sheets can make a noticeable difference. See our cooling mattress guide and cooling sheets guide.

Los Angeles

City heat and weak overnight cooling mean breathable materials matter. A topper can be a cheaper way to improve comfort if your mattress is still in good shape. Start with our topper guide.

Bay Area and the coast

Fog and cooler nights often make a cozy bed more comfortable. Layered bedding gives you flexibility when temperatures swing.

Frequently asked questions

Is Black Friday the best time to buy a mattress?

It is one of several good times. Holiday weekends such as Presidents Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day also commonly bring discounts. If your current bed is hurting your sleep, waiting for a sale is not always worth it.

Are deals really better than normal prices?

Sometimes, but not always. Compare the sale price to what the same model cost in recent weeks, and check the trial and return terms.

Do you test every mattress you recommend?

No. Each review is labeled hands-on when we slept on it, or researched when it is based on specs, published data, and owner feedback. Read our testing page for details.

Do affiliate links change your reviews?

No. We may earn a commission, but it does not change our verdicts. See our editorial policy.
