This comparison is based on specifications and policies published by Chirofoam and Casper. We have not run in-house sleep tests on these models.

Chirofoam and Casper both sell mattresses online, ship them in a box and let you test them at home. Beyond that, they are built for different sleepers. Casper helped create the bed-in-a-box category in 2014 and designs its beds to feel balanced for as many people as possible. Chirofoam, a Toronto manufacturer, takes the opposite approach: it makes only firm and extra-firm mattresses, designed with input from chiropractors, for back and stomach sleepers who sink into ordinary beds.

Neither approach is better in the abstract. The right choice depends on how you sleep, how firm you like your bed and how much flexibility you want when you buy. This guide puts both brands’ current lineups side by side so you can choose with confidence.

Firmness and feel: the biggest difference

Chirofoam’s entire lineup sits at the firm end of the scale. The Original and Hybrid are rated Luxury Firm (7.5/10), while the XF and Hybrid XF are rated Extra Firm (9.5/10). The XF, for example, layers 1 inch of cool gel-infused memory foam over 2 inches of extra-firm support foam, a dedicated lumbar support layer and a 7-inch high-density core. The result is a surface you lie on rather than in.

Casper aims for the middle. It describes The One as medium-firm with “a little bit of bounce,” and the Dream hybrid as a responsive, lively medium. Casper does not publish a numerical firmness rating, so treat those labels as the brand’s own descriptions.

What it means for you: if firmness is your top priority, Chirofoam’s published ratings take the guesswork out of buying online. If you want your shoulders and hips to sink in a little, Casper’s softer surface is the easier fit.

Support and spinal alignment

Both brands put spinal alignment at the centre of their designs, but they get there differently. Chirofoam says its mattresses were designed by a team of chiropractors and mattress-industry experts, and it builds in a lumbar support layer. The firm surface keeps the hips from sinking below the shoulders, which is what most back and stomach sleepers need.

Casper’s Dream uses Zoned Support: three zones with firmer foam under the hips, waist and lower back and softer foam at the shoulders. That lets a side sleeper’s shoulder settle in while the midsection stays supported. The One uses continuous foam layers without zoning.

No mattress is a medical treatment. If you have ongoing back pain, talk to a doctor or chiropractor before you choose.

Foam or hybrid? Matching the models

Your priority Chirofoam pick Casper pick
Firm all-foam feel and little motion transfer Original (7.5/10) or XF (9.5/10) The One (medium-firm)
More bounce, airflow and edge support Hybrid (7.5/10) or Hybrid XF (9.5/10) Dream (medium, pocketed Flex Coils, firm foam edge)
Lowest queen list price Hybrid XF (999 CAD) The One ($1,149 USD)

All-foam beds generally absorb motion better, which helps if you share the bed with a restless partner. Hybrids add bounce, easier movement and better airflow. For a closer look at Chirofoam’s two builds, see Chirofoam Hybrid vs Original.

Cooling

Chirofoam uses gel-infused memory foam that it says draws heat away from the body, and its hybrid models add coils for extra airflow. Casper builds The One and the Dream with open-cell Breathe Flex Foam and offers an optional QuickCool cover on the Dream. Casper also sells a cooling-focused Snow line. If you sleep hot, the hybrid is the safer pick in either brand.

Trial, warranty and returns

Casper offers a 100-night trial that starts on delivery. You need to sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights before returning it, and Casper then arranges free pickup with no restocking, pickup or processing fees and a full refund, as long as the mattress is in donatable condition. The warranty runs 10 years.

Chirofoam advertises a 100-night sleep trial and backs every mattress with a 15-year warranty against defects in materials and craftsmanship, five years longer than Casper’s. Its separate return-policy page, however, describes stricter terms: returns within 14 days of delivery for unopened mattresses, with return shipping paid by the customer. Because the two pages differ, confirm the trial terms with Chirofoam in writing before you order.

The edge: Casper for the simplest trial, Chirofoam for the longest warranty.

Price and value

Chirofoam’s queen list prices are 999 CAD for the Hybrid XF, 1,199 CAD for the XF and the Hybrid, and 1,399 CAD for the Original. Casper lists The One at $1,149 USD and the Dream at $1,995 USD in queen, and both were discounted on Casper’s site when we checked. Chirofoam can display prices in U.S. dollars at checkout.

Even before converting currencies, Chirofoam’s queen hybrids list for less than Casper’s Dream, and a Canadian dollar is worth less than a U.S. dollar. Casper’s advantage is choice: its lineup runs from the budget-friendly One to premium cooling and Max models, so there is a Casper for more budgets and feel preferences.

Which is better for your sleep position?

Which to choose by sleep position. Illustration: Bedroom Serenity Lab
You sleep Better fit Why
On your back Chirofoam Original or Hybrid Luxury Firm support keeps the hips level with the shoulders, with some cushioning on top
On your stomach Chirofoam XF or Hybrid XF Extra Firm support stops the hips from sinking and arching the lower back
On your side Casper Dream or The One A softer surface, plus zoned support in the Dream, lets shoulders and hips sink in
In different positions Casper Dream A balanced medium feel and coil bounce make it easy to change positions
Hot Either brand’s hybrid Coils leave more room for air to move

Couples who disagree on firmness usually do better with Casper’s middle-of-the-road feel. If you both want a firm bed, Chirofoam is the more natural match.

Casper is the all-rounder: a balanced feel, zoned support in the Dream and a hassle-free trial make it the easier pick for side sleepers, combination sleepers and couples.
